GenSan squash farmers appeal for help due to oversupply

Several farmers in General Santos City are appealing for help from the national government as squash prices plummeted due to oversupply.

According to a report on “24 Oras,” squash in the province was selling at P5 per kilo due to the surplus. To avoid wastage, some farmers feed their produce to their livestock.

The Department of Agriculture Region 12 said it was looking for ways to help the affected farmers. It also advised them to carefully plan the crops they will plant to avoid a repeat of the incident.

A surplus in squash supplies was also observed in Alamada town in Cotabato, the report added. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
