Taiwanese fugitive wanted for alleged fraud nabbed by BI agents in Pampanga

A Taiwanese man wanted in Taipei for alleged fraud was arrested by agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Wednesday in Pampanga, the BI said Friday.

The fugitive was identified by BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco as Che Szu-Han, 26, the bureau said.

Che was arrested in Mabalacat, Pampanga, on the strength of a mission order Tansingco issued upon the request of Taiwanese authorities.

“He will be deported after our board of commissioners issues the order for his summary deportation. He will then be placed in our blacklist and banned from re-entering the Philippines,” Tangsingco said.

The Taipei district prosecutor's office issued an arrest warrant against Che in July 2022, according to BI-Fugitive Search Unit acting chief Rendel Ryan Sy.

Che has been accused by Taiwanese authorities of being part of a criminal syndicate that allegedly siphons money from fraud victims which are deposited in bogus bank accounts.

According to Sy, Che is also an undocumented alien because his passport was already canceled by the Taiwanese government.

Che is under detention at the BI warden facility in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City awaiting deportation proceedings. —KG, GMA Integrated News
