CDRRMO: 22 students in Bacolod City fainted, felt dizzy after exposure to color smoke bomb

Twenty-two students fainted, felt dizziness, and experienced other discomforts after they were exposed to a color smoke bomb, the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said Wednesday.

Interviewed on Dobol B TV, CDRRMO’s Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan said six students were brought to the hospital.

“Out of the 22, six ang dinala namin sa ospital for observation at saka isa yung na-admit na nag-overnight (Out of the 22 students, we brought six to the hospital for observation and one was admitted overnight),” she said.

All of the students have already been discharged from the hospital and are now under the observation of the city health department, according to Pornan.

Aside from the students, two security guards of the school also experienced dizziness after being exposed to the color smoke bomb, Pornan said.

According to Pornan, the students used the color smoke bomb during a presentation in a school program held at a closed venue.

She said this might have contributed to the discomfort of the students because color smoke bombs are usually used in open air areas.

Quoting one of the students, Pornan said the performers bought the color smoke bomb online.

She said a sample of the color smoke bomb was provided to the Philippine National Police (PNP) for examination. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
