Five towns in Aurora suspend tourism activities amid threat from Typhoon Betty
Local authorities suspended tourism activities in five towns in Aurora as part of preparations for the possible effects of Typhoon Betty (international name: Mawar).
These include the towns of Dingalan, San Luis, Dilasag, Dinalungan and Casiguran, Aurora Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office deputy chief Leando Dungca said, according to a report by GMA Integrated News reporter Ian Cruz on Super Radyo dzBB on Sunday.
Dungca said whenever tourism activities are suspended, the hotels inform the incoming guests of the cancellation and encourage them to rebook their visit.
Meanwhile, the weather remained fair on Sunday morning in Aurora.
PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the northern and central portions of Aurora, which include Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, and Dipaculao.
The waves have gotten bigger in Baler, residents observed.
According to PAGASA, areas under TCWS No. 1 will experience strong winds of 39 to 61 km/h in 36 hours, which may have minimal to minor threat to life and property. These may begin Sunday night or Monday. —KG, GMA Integrated News
