GMA Kapuso Foundation to construct new building for school damaged by Karding in Polillo Islands
A public school damaged by Super Typhoon Karding in Polillio Island, Quezon will have a new school building courtesy of the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a report on "24 Oras," Wednesday, some pupils from Binibitinan Elementary School had to sit for classes inside their school clinic due to the lack of classrooms in the aftermath of the typhoon.
Under the Kapuso School Development Project, the school will have two new classrooms and comfort rooms in the building to be constructed by the Kapuso Foundation.
"Dun kami nagklase tapos nandun 'yung maraming memories din, pero ngayon parang mahalaga rin na may bago kasi mas marami 'yung makikinabang na mag-aaral," said Lian Dela Cruz, one of the teachers and alumni of the school.
The project already had its groundbreaking ceremony.
Supervising Engineer Arnel Zantua said the Kapuso Foundation uses a unique methodology to ensure that the structure will be strong.
"Gumagamit tayo ng light gauge steel frames at ang ating walling puro buhos 'yan simula ilalim hanggang ibabaw kaya napakatibay talaga ng gagawin nating classroom," he said.
"Importante satin na maka-provide tayo ng safe environment and classrooms for our children. Kaya importante talaga na when we build, we build strong," added Kapuso Foundation EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog.
In addition, the school also received vegetable seeds under the Gulayan Sa Paaralan Project.
More schools in Burdeos, Polillio Islands are in need of aid after Super Typhoon Karding's onslaught last year.
