Baby dies after getting doused with boiling water by 18-year-old uncle

A three-month-old baby died after his 18-year-old uncle doused boiling water on him.

According to John Consulta's report on "24 Oras", the suspect told police that he had taken illegal drugs at the time of the incident.

"Nagpakulo ng tubig. Ang intensyon niya raw ay paliguan ng maligamgam ang bata. Unfortunately, nagdilim ang kanyang paningin, naibuhos niya sa bata ‘yung kumukulong tubig na ‘yun,” Cainta Police Chief Police Major Alfonso Saligumba said.

(He boiled some water. He said he intended to give the child a warm bath. Unfortunately... he poured that boiling water on the child.)

The victim's mother had entrusted the baby to the suspect as she needed to go to work.

After the incident, the suspect asked some neighbors to watch over the victim's siblings.

Puzzled why he didn't ask them to look after the baby, the neighbors checked the house and saw the infant no longer moving.

After the incident, the suspect was captured on CCTV footage walking and carrying the victim's brother.

The authorities said he had moved to different places before being traced to his parent's house in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

“Based on the background, isa pong addict. Sabi niya sa akin, nakagamit siya (ng droga) nang time na yun,” Saligumba said.
