2 students dead after being hit by pickup truck in Eastern Samar
Two Grade 12 students died after they were hit by a pickup truck in Eastern Samar, according to the report of Fe Marie Dumaboc on GMA Regional TV "Balitang Bisdak" on "Saksi."
The driver, it was also reported, allegedly fell asleep at the wheel.
A few minutes before noon on Wednesday and the students of Salcedo Vocational High School were on their way home in Eastern Samar.
When a pickup truck plowed through a row of students, aged between 17 and 19. Two of the students were killed.
Police Senior Master Sergeant Jericho dela Cruz of the Salcedo Police Station said the driver fell asleep at the wheel then the vehicle swerved towards the opposite lane and hit the students.
The Department of Education Eastern Samar Division pledged to extend assistance to the families of the victims.
Charges have been filed against the driver including reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and multiple serious injuries. The driver has not issued a statement as of posting time. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
