SC halts election of IBP-Central Luzon officers
The Supreme Court has ordered the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) — Central Luzon to halt the election of its officers until further directives from the court.
The SC, in its En Banc session on Tuesday, acted on the case titled “Illegal campaign and activities in the IBP-Central Luzon allegedly perpetrated by Atty. Nilo Divina.”
The high court also directed the IBP Board of Governors to file their comment by personal filing within 10 days from receipt of notice.
When sought for comment, Divina denied enganging in illegal campaign activities.
“I was never a candidate nor am I a current candidate for any IBP position. I am hopeful that the SC will eventually dismiss the baseless anonymous complaint,” Divina said in a message to GMA News Online.
He said he will also file his comment with the Supreme Court but cannot disclose the specific arguments due to the sub judice rule. —Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA Integrated News
