47-year-old applicant dies after initiations of socio-civic club
Sixteen members of a socio-civic group in Cavite are now facing complaints for violation of the Anti-Hazing Law after one of its applicants—a 47-year-old— died after allegedly undergoing its initiation process.
According to Joseph Morong's report on "24 Oras", the victim Glen Albert Binoya suffered a stroke and had a hemorrhage.
The initiations happened in January but it was only in March that his loved ones identified who should be included in the complaint.
Sixteen officers and members of the Cavite Samaritans Eagles Club and a number of John Does have been named respondents in the complaint filed before the Imus City Prosecutors' Office.
The victim's father, Angelito, said Glen should not have been subjected to hazing given his age.
“Hazing is not allowed by law. Bakit gan'un ang tinanggap nila?” he said. —Richa Noriega/NB, GMA Integrated News
