Crucifixion, carrying of cross allowed in San Fernando, Pampanga for Holy Week 2023
The local government unit in Pampanga has allowed the resumption of the crucifixion, self-flagellation and carrying of the cross traditionally held in one barangay in San Fernando for Holy Week this year.
These activities were halted for two years in Barangay San Pedro Cutud, San Fernando City, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a report by Darlene Cay on Unang Balita on Tuesday.
With this, Catholic devotees like Ruben Enaje will be able to fulfill their "panata" or devotion.
Enaje, who has undergone crucifixion annually for 33 years in Barangay San Pedro Cutud, is looking forward to doing it again next month on Good Friday, April 7.
The LGU advised visitors who will watch the event to wear face masks and practice social distancing. —KG, GMA Integrated News
