Man arrested in Cebu after throwing boiling water on a dog

A man was arrested in Cebu City after pouring boiling water on a dog.

According to a report on Unang Balita based on information from GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak, the dog suffered burns on the back and side of the body.

Suspect Jason Fuentes was brought to the Cebu City Police Office Detention Facility Station 11. He said the dog was constantly attacking him. He admitted what he did was wrong and regretted it.

“Dahil sa aking inis, nawawala ako sa sarili kaya sinabuyan ko ng mainit na tubig ang aso. Na-realize ko mali ang aking ginawa,” he said in Cebuano.

The dog's owner, Gina Lucido, will not file a lawsuit.

“First offense pa naman, pagbigyan natin. Para siyang eye-opener sa mga tao,” she said.

However, the Cebu City Police Office will proceed with the filing of a complaint for violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

Meanwhile, several dogs were found dead in a subdivision in Santa Barbara, Iloilo and suspected of being poisoned. The photos of the dead dogs recently went viral on social media.

According to Ildefonso Duillergan, chairman of Brgy. Balabag, they have not received any complaints about the dogs but admitted that many of them are roaming around their area. However, he said this is not a reason to poison the dogs.

“Hindi natin maaaring hampasin ang aso o barilin, lalasunin pa. Violation 'yan ng Animal Welfare Act," he said in the vernacular.

Meanwhile, GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas is trying to get the statement of the management of the said subdivision.

In Vigan City, Ilocos, Sur, a dog also died after being beaten by residents.

The residents said the dog got off its leash and suddenly entered a house.

They admitted the crime but defended that the dog bit a puppy, and they got scared that it will bite another again. They said they were just afraid for the safety of their children and grandchildren.—Sherylin Untalan/AOL, GMA Integrated News
