New passenger terminals to open in 3 ports before Holy Week in March 2023
The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said new passenger terminals will be opened in three ports this March 2023 before the Holy Week.
The passenger terminals are located in the ports of Masbate, Coron in Palawan, and Calapan in Oriental Mindoro, according to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday.
The Masbate Port passenger terminal will be opened on March 8, while that in Coron will be opened on March 15.
The passenger terminal at the Port of Calapan meanwhile will be opened on March 21.
The PPA said with the opening of the new passenger terminals, it is hoped that the queue of passengers will become shorter. This will also help passengers avoid fixers, it added.
Filipinos traditionally head to their hometowns during Holy Week to spend time with their loved ones and participate in religious activities.
Maundy Thursday, April 6, and Good Friday, April 7 are regular holidays, while Black Saturday, April 8, is a special non-working day. —KG, GMA Integrated News
