Vehicle possibly used in ambush vs. Aparri vice mayor, others found — PNP
The vehicle possibly used by the perpetrators in the ambush of Aparri, Cagayan Vice Mayor Rommel Alameda and five others was found burned in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Monday.
“Kaninag madaling araw ay may nai-report po na nakitang sunog na white Mitsubishi diyan sa Barangay Uddiawan sa Solano, Nueva Vizcaya at tinitignan na maaaring ito yung ginamit na mga sasakyan po ng mga suspek,” PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo said in an interview on GMA News’ Unang Balita.
(Early in the morning, a burned white Mitsubishi vehicle was reported in Barangay Uddiawan sa Solano, Nueva Vizcaya and police are looking into the possibility that it was used by the suspects.)
The police are checking the registration number of the vehicle to identify its owner, Fajardo added.
Alameda and five others were killed when their van was ambushed by gunmen in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya on Sunday.
Other victims were identified as Alexander Agustin Delos Angeles, Alvin Dela Cruz Abel, Abraham Dela Cruz Ramos, John Duane Banag Almeda, and Ismael Nanay.
An initial investigation showed the victims were aboard a Starex van on the way to Manila when more or less six suspects fired at them, police said. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
