One dead as sinkhole forms in Danao City, Cebu

A woman was found dead after a sinkhole formed close to her home in Danao City, Cebu.

According to Guam Logroño’s Super Radyo dzBB report on Saturday, the 46-year-old woman was found buried in Purok 3, Barangay Sabang, Danao City, Cebu on Friday night.

The victim’s body was recovered past 9 p.m. on Friday.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) of Danao City said they were conducting an assessment to make sure the area was safe.

The CDRRMO also said they were looking into whether a preemptive evacuation was needed.

The area where the sinkhole formed was used for quarrying and it may have collapsed due to the rain. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
