Probe into choking incident involving students in Davao City underway
Officials of a school in Davao City have opened an investigation into an incident involving a video that showed one student holding another in a chokehold inside the campus, according to a GMA Regional TV One Mindanao report of Vonne Aquino on "Saksi" on Friday.
Based on initial investigation, the incident occurred inside the comfort room of Ateneo de Davao University Junior High School in Davao City.
"School authorities have met with these students and their parents, and an investigation is ongoing," school officials said in a statement.
They added that appropriate action is also being taken based on the Ateneo de Davao Junior High School Student Discipline Code, the Child Protection Policy of the Department of Education, and the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
The officials also asked that the public respect privacy of the students and their families and to void engaging in misinformation.
"Rest assured that the ADDU Junior High School maintains a safe learning climate for our students. Misbehavior will not be tolerated. If warranted, disciplinary sanctions will be imposed after due process," they added.
The cause of the incident is under investigation. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
