5.2-magnitude quake hits off Davao Occidental

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake hit southeast off Balut Island, Municipality of Saranggani, Davao Occidental early Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The quake, which occurred at 2:17 a.m., with a depth of 76 kilometers and is tectonic in origin.

"This is an aftershock of the 18 January 2023 M7.0 Offshore Davao Occidental Earthquake event," PHIVOLCS said.

There are no damages not aftershocks expected, the agency said. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
