Farmers affected by floods, pests in Aurora receive food packs from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A total of 700 families of farmers in Dilasag, Aurora received food packs from the GMA Kapuso Foundation after their crops were affected by floods and pests.

As seen in "24 Oras" on Friday, among  the beneficiaries is Rufino Corpuz Ancheta, who has been a farmer for 20 years.

Rufino has two more children to support through school, but his upcoming harvest was devastated by the weather and mice.

"'Yung lumaki po binabanatan po ng daga, saka tag-ulan hindi masyado umusbong 'yung bunga. Lamig po ang nararanasan ng sitaw kaya mahina po 'yan sa lamig," he said.

"Minsan may binebenta rin kami, pang budget ko rin sa susunod na anihan," he added.

("Those that have grown have been eaten by mice, and it's rainy season so the plants don't grow much. It's also cold and string beans can't hold up in the cold.")

("Sometimes we get to sell some, but I have to put it in my budget for the next harvest.")

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
