Heavy rains, strong winds cause flooding, power outage in Bicol, Mindanao
Some areas in the Bicol Region and Mindanao experienced flooding and power outage over the weekend as heavy rains and strong winds prevailed.
In Koronadal, South Cotabato, trees uprooted by strong winds damaged a store and blocked roads, according to a report by Jonathan Andal on GMA News' Unang Balita on Monday.
No one was hurt, but some areas lost power after uprooted trees damaged some power lines.
In Kidapawan City, Cotabato, a power outage occurred after uprooted trees likewise affected some power lines.
The Cotabato Electric Company was able to restore power after an hour.
In Camarines Norte and Camarines Sur in the Bicol Region, heavy rains caused poor visibility on roads.
Local officials evacuated residents in flooded areas in the municipality of Lagonoy in Camarines Sur.
In Bulan, Sorsogon, meanwhile, a spillway was damaged by heavy rains, making it difficult for residents to cross the affected area due to the strong water current.
In Calanasan, Apayao, Eva Road was closed to motorists after heavy rains caused the road to be covered in mud and soil.
The Department of Public Works and Highways has started clearing the road to enable motorists to pass.
