Baliwag, Bulacan gains cityhood following plebiscite - Comelec

Most of the voters in Baliwag town in Bulacan on Saturday backed the conversion of the municipality into a component city, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said.

Comelec spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said a total of 23,562 out of 108,572 voters participated in the plebiscite, for a voter turnout of 21.70%.

Laudiangco said 17,814 people or 75.60% voted "yes," while 5,702 people, or 24.19% voted "no."

The Comelec spokesperson expressed gratitude to the residents of Baliwag for their trust in the poll body.
