12 children in Juban, Sorsogon get wheelchairs, strollers from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Twelve children from Juban, Sorsogon received wheelchairs and strollers from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a "24 Oras" report Monday, among the beneficiaries was one-year-old Nigel, who needs special attention and care because of his condition.

"Si Nigel po ay isang patient natin na mayroong intussusception or 'yung bituka niya sa katawan, nagdikit. Do’n siya tumatae sa colostomy bag," Dr. Edric Ian Vargas said.

("Nigel is a patient who has intussusception, meaning his intestines get stuck together. He defecates using the colostomy bag.")

Because of his illness, Nigel's mom Lorena Novora worries about her son's colostomy bags often. Her husband's income as a carpenter is not enough. At times, they would just use a diaper.

"Pupunta ako sa kapitbahay ko, hihiram (ng pera). Minsan, 'di na kami kakain basta may pambili lang siya ng bag," she said.

("I'll go to my neighbor, borrow money. Sometimes, we don't get to eat as long as we have cash to buy a bag.")

Apart from colostomy bags, a wheelchair, and a stroller, Nigel's family also received a nebulizer for his brother with asthma. Additionally, Juban's rural health unit got antigen kits, vitamins, and medicine.
