Four aspirants file COC for Cavite 7th district special election
Four individuals have filed certificates of candidacy (COC) to fill the seat vacated by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla in the special election in Cavite’s 7th Congressional District, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Wednesday.
Comelec spokesman Rex Laudiangco said the following filed their COCs on December 5 to 6:
- Jose Angelito Domingo Aguinaldo (Independent)
- Melencio Loyola De Sagun, Jr. (Independent)
- Crispin Diego Diaz Remulla (National Unity Party)
- Michael Angelo Bautista Santos (Independent)
“All registered voters from the Municipalities of Amadeo, Indang and Tanza, and the City of Trece Martires, will be participating in this electoral exercise, which is being held by reason of the existence of vacancy of the post of Representative for the said Legislative District as certified by the House of Representatives in its House Resolution No. 100 dated 27 July 2022,” Laudiangco said in a statement.
“This is on account of the appointment and assumption to office of former Representative Jesus Crispin C. Remulla as Secretary of Justice, subsequent to his election thereto in the recently concluded May 9, 2022 National and Local Elections,” he added.
Laudiangco said voting, counting, and canvassing of votes will be via the automated elections system, using the vote-counting machine (VCM) and the consolidation and canvassing system (CCS).
He said the voters registration in the 7th District of Cavite was also suspended from November 25, 2022 to February 24, 2023.
