Three who did dentistry without license nabbed in Cavite operations
Three persons who were doing dental procedures without licenses have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group during a series of operations in Cavite.
According to Emil Sumangil's report on "24 Oras," authorities raided a dental clinic inside a house in Trece Martires, where only a gamer's seat served as a dental chair.
Wilfredo Elizalde admitted that he was not a licensed dentist.
He was just an assistant who learned how to do dental procedures.
"Sa lahat po ng mga dentista, sorry po talaga, hindi na po mauulit po yan,” Elizalde said.
One "clinic" was raided in Trece Martires while another was the subject of an operation in Tanza.
The suspect in Tanza was doing a dental procedure on a bench with the police arrived.
“Ang napatunayang lumabag sa batas ng Philippine Dental Act of 2007 or the Republic Act 9484 ay may multang P200,000 hanggang P500,000,” Philippine Dental Association president Sheryl Del Rosario said.
The PDA warned against patients going to unlicensed dental clinics, saying they would be vulnerable to infections or worse suffer permanent damage in the mouth. —Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA Integrated News
