DOH provides primary healthcare services to Pangasinan town residents
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday launched the “Konsultayo Arangkada” campaign to provide primary healthcare services to hundreds of residents in Manaoag, Pangasinan.
DOH officer-in-charge Maria Rosario Vergeire led the launch of the “Konsultayo Arangkada” van, which was equipped with diagnostic equipment deployed to provide mobile primary care services to different communities in the municipality.
The DOH said the van will be deployed for two weeks to provide comprehensive primary care services, including risk assessment for diseases; screening and diagnosis of communicable and non-communicable diseases; and preventive or promotive services, such as immunization for infants, nutrition, family planning, and health education and counseling.
The Health Department also tapped the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to facilitate the registration of patients into their system.
“This is one of many initiatives of the DOH to make healthcare more accessible and improve our country’s health outcomes, especially in far-flung and underprivileged areas,” Vergeire said.
“With primary care, we will be able to reach every Filipino and provide them the care they deserve to enable them to lead healthy, productive, and fulfilling lives,” she added.
Vergeire also highlighted the role of local government units (LGUs) in providing accessible quality, and affordable health care to their constituents.
The DOH OIC said the department was committed and ready to support LGUs.
“The local governments will serve as dependable allies in our quest to implement primary health care down to the grassroots level where it is most needed. Without them, we will never be able to realize Universal Health Care,” Vergeire said.
“Recognizing this, rest assured that the DOH will never falter in its commitment and duty to support our LGUs in creating a Healthy Pilipinas,” she added. — DVM, GMA News
