Aurora town placed under state of calamity due to cholera outbreak
The local government of Maria Aurora town in Aurora province declared a state of calamity due to a cholera outbreak, Jonathan Andal said Tuesday in a "24 Oras News Alert" report.
The local government said there were four deaths reported from Barangay Bayanihan and more than 200 individuals were ill from the same barangay and Barangay Kadayacan due to the disease.
The local government is finding ways to look for an alternative water supply.
At present, local officials are providing affected residents with water.
In a Facebook post, the Maria Aurora government explained that they had declared a state calamity on the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and Municipal Inter-Agency Task Force through their Joint MDRRMC and MIATF Resolution No. 1, s. 2022.
Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 117, s. 2022 further allowed the disbursement of P2 million from the Quick Response Fund which will be utilized for the potable water supply and sewerage at the two barangays. — Anna Felicia Bajo/DVM, GMA Integrated News
