Hailstorm reported in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental

Aside from last night's total lunar eclipse, the residents of Bayawan City in Negros Oriental, also witnessed a hailstorm.

The residents of Barangay Mandu-ao said the rain was followed by small chunks of ice yesterday.

According to the "24 Oras" report, some residents tried tasting the ice since this is the first time a hailstorm has hit the area.

However, PAGASA officials warned that it should not be eaten. The same officials also clarified that the lunar eclipse has nothing to do with the weather in the area since hailstorms are only formed due to severe thunderstorms.

The hailstorm even helped the residents to have a better view of the Blood Moon as the sky became clearer, according to the report. -- Sherylin Untalan/BAP, GMA News
