Metal debris recovered off Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro — PCG
A large piece of metal debris has been recovered in the vicinity waters off Calintaan, Occidental Mindoro, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday.
In an incident report, the PCG said Roderick Fabie, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Calintaan, reported that a group of local fisherman found and pulled the item towards shore on Sunday, November 6 at around 11 a.m.
Personnel of the Coast Guard and the Philippine National Police (PNP) proceeded to the location and confirmed the presence of the white-painted, curved, six-meter-long slab.
The Coast Guard said the source is still unknown and the item remains at the location for further inspection.
Last August, large pieces of metal with Chinese markings were recovered in the waters off Mamburao, also in Occidental Mindoro, after portions of the booster stage from China's Long March 5B rocket reportedly fell into waters southeast of Puerto Princesa, Palawan. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA Integrated News
