Magnitude 5.2 quake hits Tarlac City


A 5.2 magnitude earthquake struck Tarlac City Tuesday evening at 10:30 p.m., the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

According to PHIVOLCS, the epicenter of the quake was located 7 kilometers southeast of the city of Tarlac. It is tectonic in nature and has a depth of focus of 184 kilometers.

No damages are expected but aftershocks are possible, the agency said.

Instrumental Intensities were monitored in the following areas:

  • Intensity I - Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
