One dead after cargo vessel runs aground in Zambales
A crew member died while five others were rescued after a cargo vessel ran aground off Barangay Bangan in Botolan, Zambales, according to a report by Darlene Cay on “Unang Balita” on Tuesday.
One of the crew members jumped into the sea and swam towards the shore.
Meanwhile, the rescued crew members were taken to the hospital, according to a report by GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon.
An investigation by the Philippine Coast Guard’s Botolan substation revealed the sand-carrying barge was headed for Manila and Palawan.
The crew was waiting for oil supplies and the PCG's clearance when the cargo vessel was hit by huge waves.
