School in Odette-hit Liloan, Southern Leyte receives new classrooms from GMA Kapuso Foundation

Odette-hit Liloan, Southern Leyte received new classrooms from the GMA Kapuso Foundation after the old ones were damaged by the typhoon.

According to a "24 Oras" report, Monday, the three rooms at New Malangza Elementary School were turned over last September 29. They are now sturdier than ever.

"'Yung ating walls ay solid na buhos para kahit gaano kalakas 'yung lindol ay hindi masisira [Our walls are solid so it won't be damaged no matter how strong an earthquake is]," said Engr. Edgar Eniego.

The municipality of Liloan also received a handwashing facility and clean drinking water with the help of Xylem and Planet Water Foundation.

This project was made possible with the help of the foundations' partners and sponsors, including the Austrian Embassy Manila.

Apart from the residents, Vice President and education secretary Sara Duterte is also happy to know that new classrooms have been given to the municipality.

"This school building project built in one of the areas devastated by Typhoon Odette in Southern Leyte is a testament to your commitment and dedication to [help] our fellow Filipinos," she said.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
