Ilocos, Cagayan roads, bridges impassable due to Neneng
At least nine roads and six bridges in the Ilocos and Cagayan Regions were rendered impassable by Typhoon Neneng (international name: Nesat).
According to data from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), three roads and one bridge in Region 1 were impassable as of 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 16.
These included the kilometer 578 to 800 portion of the Manila North Road in Pagudpud which was blocked by a major landslide, the Banna-Batac Road in Banna which had an eroded shoulder, and the Tandangan Bridge which experienced strong and heavy winds and rain.
There were six roads and five bridges in Region 2 which were impassable, including the Bangag-Magapit Road and the Bulo-Gagaddangan Road in Allacapan, Cagayan.
Also impassable were the Cadongdongan Road Section and the Capacuan Salongsong Bridge in Santa Praxedes, and the Provincial Road and the Palawig Detour Bridge in Santa Ana.
The NDRRMC said a portion of the Paddaya Provincial Road and the Balza-Remebella Barangay Road in Buguey were impassable, along with the San Isidro-Taytay Bridge and the Versoza-Agaman Proper Bridge in Baggao, and the Alucao Buyun Bridge in Santa Teresita.
The state weather bureau placed several areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal 3, including the western portion of Babuyan Islands where storm-force winds could be expected within 18 hours. — DVM, GMA News
