2 fishermen found dead in Cagayan amid Maymay

Two fishermen were found dead in separate areas in Cagayan amid the inclement weather caused by Tropical Depression Maymay, Unang Balita reported on Thursday, citing GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon.

One of the fishermen was found in Buguey municipality while the other one was found in Barangay Ipil in Gonzaga town.

Meanwhile, 3,611 individuals or 1,210 families in 35 barangays in 10 towns were affected by Maymay, according to the latest tally of the Cagayan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Floods, some reaching knee-high, were reported in several towns including Pamplona and Aparri. In some villages, the flood situation was exacerbated by the high tide.

Maymay has since weakened into a low pressure area (LPA), but state weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring another LPA and two active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). —KBK, GMA News
