Former Dipaculao, Aurora vice mayor, wife, driver killed in ambush
The former vice mayor of Dipaculao town in Aurora, Narciso Amansec, his wife, and driver were killed in an ambush by unidentified suspects on Monday, Russel Simorio reported on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon.
The other victims were identified as Amansec's wife, Merlina, and the driver Leonard Talosa.
The victims were onboard a maroon pick up truck and travelling through Barangay Dibutunan when the ambush occurred.
The police are currently investigating the incident as they continue to gather evidence and a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) has been organized.
"As to the identity of the perpetrator, we are still investigating it. Actually, the regional headquarters, together with the provincial headquarters activated the SITG with regards to the matter," said Police Major Eduardo Mendoza, Dipaculao Police Chief.
Meanwhile, in a statement posted on social media, the Amansec family said they are still in a state of shock and requested for privacy at this time.
"In behalf of the whole family. We appreciate your concerns po, and we thank you for reaching out. As much as we want to answer, we would like to keep our mourning privately for now. Please do understand that we are also in state of shock. Salamat po sa pang unawa. God bless us all," the family said.
Aurora Gov. Christian Noveras, in a Facebook post, condemned the killing of Amensec, his wife, and the driver.
"Bilang Punong Lalawigan, hustisya ang hangad ko para kay Bokal Amansec, sa kanyang asawa, at sa kanyang driver," Noveras added.
(As provincial governor, I wish for justice for Bokal Amansec, his wife, and his driver.)
He has instructed the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct a thorough investigation, adding that he would not allow this type of culture to prevail in his province. -- Sherylin Untalan/BAP, GMA News
