At least 8,000 homes in the Polillo Islands damaged due to Karding
At least 8,000 houses were damaged in the Polillo Islands during the onslaught of Typhoon Karding, according to a “24 Oras Weekend” report on Saturday.
Quezon Governor Helen Tan said they needed construction materials to repair the damaged houses of the residents.
The provincial government allocated P30 million from the quick response fund to assist the affected residents.
More than 300 boats were also damaged in Barangay San Juan, affecting the livelihood of over 1,000 fishermen.
Karding also left over P100 million worth of agricultural damage in the province, according to the Quezon Provincial Agriculture Office.
In Dingalan, Aurora, more than P430 million worth of damage in agriculture and infrastructure was reported.
The residents were appealing for food, clean water to drink, clothes, and construction materials.
Meanwhile, authorities were still trying to restore electricity in different areas in Nueva Ecija.
In Pampanga, around 5,000 residents were affected as massive flooding submerged eight towns.
The typhoon dumped large amounts of rain and caused flooding as it traversed the Luzon landmass, before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility on September 26. — Richa Noriega/DVM, GMA News
