Ipo Dam to release water due to Karding

Water will be released from Ipo Dam in Bulacan starting 8 p.m. on Sunday, PAGASA said in an advisory.

The state weather agency said that the water level at Ipo Dam at 4 p.m. was 100.63 meters and continues to increase due to heavy rains induced by Super Typhoon Karding.

Residents living along the low-lying areas and those near Angat River are advised to be alert for a possible increase in the river elevation.

PAGSA said the initial discharge of water will be 60 cms during the spilling operation.

Meanwhile, Bustos Dam has released water in preparation for the rains brought by Karding, according to GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon's Russel Simorio reported on “24 Oras Weekend.”

The dam’s operation center said that the preemptive release of water would not cause widespread flooding in the province.

However, it advised the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to notify residents living near the Angat River.

Karding made landfall in the vicinity of Burdeos, Quezon at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
