3 people dead in separate road accidents in Northern, Central Luzon

Three separate road incidents that led to the death of three individuals were recorded in Northern and Central Luzon, according to a report on GMA Regional TV "One North Central Luzon" on Wednesday.

A passenger was killed after a tricycle and a pickup collided in Angeles City, Pampanga.

Based on the CCTV footage, the pickup hit the tricycle. The driver of the pickup swiftly fled the scene.

The passenger was identified as Aiko Suarez Torres, 31-years-old, while the injured tricycle driver was identified as Ricardo Torres, 66-years-old.

“Papunta kami ng Pampang sa Klaro. Palipat kami ng highway. Nakita ko malayo yung ilaw niya. May nakasalubong kaming tricycle, nauna siya nang kaunti. Kung iniwasan lang ako, hindi ako matatamaan,” Ricardo said.

(We were on our way to Pampang, to Klaro. We were transferring to the highway. I saw the light of the oncoming vehicle was still far. We encountered a tricycle, who was ahead of us. If he avoided us, we would not be hit [by the oncoming vehicle].)

“May mga naka-post na noong bumaba siya, tiningnan niya ‘yung sasakyan niya tapos sumakay siya ulit, ‘yun ‘yung nandoon sa pictures. Naghahanap pa kami ng ibang CCTV [footages] sa mga nadaanan,” Police Colonel Diosdado Fabian, Angeles City Police Office director, said.

(There were persons at the area where he got out of the vehicle, then he boarded the vehicle again. That's what can be seen in the pictures. We are still looking for other CCTV [footages] where the vehicle passed.)

In Villasis town in Pangasinan, a pickup travelling in high speed hit a motorcycle and tricycle, then later on collided with a truck.

The police said the driver of the pickup and a passenger of the motorcycle were killed, while the tricycle driver was injured.

“Binabagtas itong Villasis-Malasiqui road in a high speed. Nahagip niya ‘yung nakaparadang motorsiklo sa may gilid ng kalsada and after that nung nabangga niya ‘yun, dumiretso siya doon sa may tricycle na nakaparada din,” Police Major Glenn Dulay, chief of Villasis Police Station, said.

(The vehicle was plying the Villasis-Malasiqui road in high speed. The driver hit a motorcycle that was parked by the road side then drove a few meters further hitting a parked tricycle.)

The collision of two vans along Sto. Domingo in Ilocos Sur was also caught in a CCTV footage.

One of the vehicles flipped, while one of the drivers was injured due to the strong impact of the incident.

“At around 12:55 kaninang madaling araw eh may nangyaring aksidente. Crossing left direction ‘yun naman ang parang pagdating ng Isuzu D-Max na van, na kung saan eh binangga niya itong Mitsubishi van,” Police Lieutenant Rode Marzan, officer in charge of Sto. Domingo Police Station, said.

(A vehicular accident occurred around 12:55 in the morning. The Isuzu D-Max was crossing in the left direction when it hit a Mitsubishi van.)

“As per information parang may pag-uusap na itong dalawa itong nabangga at saka may ari ng sasakyan,” he added.

(As per information it seems that the two drivers of the vehicles and the owner have discussed the matter.) -- Richa Noriega/BAP, GMA News
