Kapuso Tulay to replace old hanging bridge in Sogod, Southern Leyte

A Kapuso Tulay is set to stand tall for residents in Sogod, Southern Leyte who have been making do with the old hanging bridge in their area.

According to a "24 Oras" report on Monday, among those who have faced danger from crossing the old bridge is Eric Inso. He has been in an accident twice.

The first time was when my foot was wounded and the bone twisted 'cause it got stuck]," he said.

'Yung kaliwang braso ko, napilay [The second was when my motor, which I use to carry cement, slipped because it was raining. My left arm was injured]."

Despite the danger, Eric said he has no choice but to use the bridge as so he could earn a living.

The building of the Kapuso Tulay's foundation has already started. According to senior engineer Edgar Eniego, the bridge will be 70 meters.

("The bridge we will build here can sustain typhoons with wind speed of 300 kilometers per hour and earthquakes up to magnitude 8.0.")
