Suspect killed in shootout after convenience store rob try in Rizal
One of three suspects who attempted to rob a convenience store in the municipality of Rodriguez, Rizal was killed in a shootout after the police responded to the burglary alarm.
According to Jun Veneracion’s report on “24 Oras”, the establishment was closed but security officials were monitoring the movements of the suspects through a CCTV.
“Tumawag sa 'min security nila, nakita nila sa CCTV na may tao sa loob ng store nila,” Rodriguez Municipal Police Station Chief Lt. Col. Marcelino Pipo said.
(Their security called us, saying they saw on the CCTV that there are people inside the store.)
An investigation showed that three suspects gained entry into the store by cutting through the roof.
The two other suspects were able to escape. Meanwhile, recovered from the slain suspect were firearms, rope, steel scissors, and cash.
The police said this is the fourth branch of the convenience store that was robbed this year. And this is the first time they were able to catch the suspects.
“Actually, matagal na naming minamanmanan itong grupo na ito,” said Pipo.
(We’ve been monitoring this group.)
Meanwhile, authorities thanked a civilian for extending help.
“Hindi po ko nagdalawang isip na tulungan ang kapulisan natin. Handa akong tumulong para malutas yung mga kriminalidad sa lugar natin,” Fernando (not his real name) said.
(I didn’t think twice about helping them. I am willing to extend help to resolve the crimes committed in our area.) -- Sundy Locus/BAP, GMA News
