Kin burned 75-year-old matriarch in Misamis Oriental — PNP

Eleven children and grandchildren were arrested for allegedly burning their 75-year-old matriarch in Misamis Oriental, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said Wednesday.

The police did not disclose the identities of the victim and suspects due to the "sensitivity of this case.”

In a statement,  the PNP said the victim’s son-in-law reported the incident on August 26.

Upon arrival at the crime scene, cops found burnt woods which were allegedly used by the suspects, who fled after the incident.

A report from GMA Regional TV One Mindanao on Unang Balita stated the suspects pushed the victim to a burning pile of wood.

“Now that we have identified the suspects, definitely they will face the charges against them. Justice will be given to the victim,” PNP chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said.

The suspects are now facing parricide complaints, the PNP said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
