Result of the DNA test has confirmed that the skeletal remains found in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan were that of missing 22-year-old Jovelyn Galleno, police said Tuesday.
According to Puerto Princesa Police spokesperson Police Captain Maria Victoria Iquin, the DNA examination conducted on the skeletal remains and a swab sample provided by Galleno's mother yielded a 99.9% match.
“Base sa resulta na isinagawag DNA examination ng PNP forensic group sa DNA samples mula sa natagpuang kalansay at buccal swab ng ina ni Jovelyn, lumabas na 99.99 percent na tugma ang resulta,” Iquin told GMA News Online.

The skeletal remains were found in Barangay Santa Lourdes on August 23, days after Galleno was reported missing on August 5.
Found along with the remains were Galleno's identification card, bag, and other items.
Galleno's cousin, Leobert Dasmariñas, had admitted to raping and killing her, according to local police.
It was Leobert who informed authorities of the location of Galleno's remains, police earlier said. —KBK, GMA News
