Over 100 PDLs in Iloilo stage rooftop protest over food
More than 100 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) staged a protest at the rooftop of the Iloilo District Jail in Pototan, Iloilo.
According to a report on “Saksi”, the PDLs called for the ouster of the warden Jail Chief Inspector Norberto Miciano due to what they called inedible food at the facility.
They also alleged the food delivered by their loved ones were being reduced so they will be forced to buy inside the prison at higher prices.
The legal counsel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Region 6 denied the allegations, saying the jail had a food supervisor who oversawthe supplies.
Miciano was ordered relieved from his post amid the investigation.
He has yet to issue a statement on the incident. —Sundy Locus/NB, GMA News
