Giant egg surfaces in Cebu town

A giant egg that is roughly the size of a child's head appeared in Tabogon, Cebu, according to a report by Alan Domingo on GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak on Wednesday.

The egg's owner, Adelo Singuran, said that it fell from a mango tree. Given that ostriches, a large flightless bird, are not present in the community, he questioned whether it belonged to one of them.

Others thought the egg, which weighs one and a quarter kilograms, came from prehistoric animals like dinosaurs.

Department of Agriculture Region 7 administrative officer Quian Ibarra said that the egg might belong to an ostrich.

"An ostrich egg is about five to seven inches long and weighs around one kilogram. If we based it on research, it seems this egg falls under that category," he said in Cebuano after seeing the video of the egg.

Ibarra also said it might potentially be a reptile’s egg.

However, Ibarra said further investigation is needed to identify it.

“We cannot be sure for now since we have not examined it personally or physically. We need to investigate further to know what it is,” he said. - Virgil Lopez/GMA News
