Cop, 2 others arrested in Badian, Cebu buy-bust
A policeman and his two companions have been arrested for alleged possession of illegal drugs in Badian, Cebu, the Police Regional 7 (PRO-7) said on Wednesday.
PRO-7 director Police Brigadier General Roque Eduardo DP Vega said the suspects were nabbed in a buy-bust operation conducted in Barangay Poblacion around 7:20 a.m. on August 23.
Vega said the cop was assigned to the Provincial Operation Management Unit of Cebu Police Provincial Office (PPO) and has been in service since December 2010.
“I directed the Officer-in-Charge of Cebu PPO to exercise disciplinary authority over the said PNP personnel. Aligned with the Chief, PNP’s guidance, instilling discipline is a routine action that is taken priority to implant integrity in our work,” Vega said in a statement.
“Under my watch, I will not tolerate any wrongdoings of either of my uniformed or non-uniformed personnel or face the consequences of their actions. Let this serve as a warning,” he added.
Seized were 20 grams of illegal drugs with an estimated value of P136,000, a hand grenade, and P1,000 buy-bust money.
