Binga, Magat dams still releasing water after Florita exit


Two Luzon dams were still releasing water on Wednesday morning even after Severe Tropical Storm Florita (international name: Ma-on) has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

At 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Binga Dam in Benguet had one gate open at 0.30 meter, same as on Monday

Binga Dam's reservoir water level (RWL) was at 572.65 meters at 6 a.m., which is near the 575-meter spilling level or normal high water level (NHWL).

Meanwhile, Magat Dam, which straddles Isabela and Ifugao, had one gate open at 0.50 meter at 6 a.m.

Its RWL was at 185.99 meters at 6 a.m., a few meters away from the 190-meter NHWL.

PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 on Wednesday morning over the northern and western portions of Benguet (Mankayan, Bakun, Kibungan, Kapangan, Tublay, La Trinidad, Sablan, Tuba, Baguio City, Atok) and 10 other areas.

On Wednesday morning, moderate to heavy rains are expected over the Ilocos Region, Abra, and Benguet while light to moderate with at times heavy rains may be experienced in the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region, PAGASA added. —KG, GMA News
