Over 1K kinder, grade 1 students in Lanao del Norte receive school supplies from GMA Kapuso Foundation
Over 1,000 kinder and grade 1 students from Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte received school supplies from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a "24 Oras" report on Monday, among the beneficiaries was seven-year-old Jyra Pareño, who was named first place in the district's story reading competition in 2021.
Jyra also receives academic awards, which makes her mom Janeth proud. The mother is also happy that she gets to bond with her child after working in Malaysia for four years.
"Ngayon po, nabibigyan ko na po siya ng oras. Inaalagaan ko po siya kahit po medyo may gap pero sinisikap ko pa rin para mapalapit po sa kanya," Janeth said.
("Now, I'm able to give her time. I take care for her and even if there's a gap, I try to be closer to her.")
Jyra and other students received a bag filled with school supplies and a hygiene kit under the GMA Kapuso Foundation's "Unang Hakbang sa Kinabukasan" project.
A 2021 data by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said that Lanao del Norte is the 14th poorest province in the country.
The GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
