Mudslide hits classrooms of school in Bagac, Bataan
A mudslide caused by days of continuous rain in Bagac town in the province of Bataan hit a school building and splattered some classrooms with mud.
Unang Balita on Friday -- citing a report from GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan -- said that the mudslide hit the Quinawan Integrated School in Bagac.
Local authorities said the rain-soaked soil at the back of the school slipped, causing the slope protection to cave in, and sticky mud flowed into some classrooms and covered the floor.
According to the report, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau has recommended the temporary closure of the affected classrooms for safety reasons.
Also, local authorities have coordinated with Department of Education (DepEd) regarding the incident, the report said.
In the meantime, local officials were looking for an alternative place to be temporarily used for the coming school opening, the report added. —LBG, GMA News
