Vigan City Mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Vigan City Mayor Bonito Singson has tested positive for COVID-19, the city government announced in social media on Thursday.

In an advisory, the Vigan City government said Singson’s test results came out on Wednesday.

The mayor is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and is currently under quarantine while receiving "proper medication and care."

Operations at the City Hall, meanwhile, will not be affected as all offices and departments will remain open to the public.

Singson reminded his constituents to continue adhering to the minimum health protocols, saying there is a “sudden surge” in the spread of COVID-19.

Earlier, the Department of Health reported 4,533 new cases of coronavirus infections in the country. This brings the nationwide tally to 3,818,480, and active infections at 37,962.

Total recoveries now stood at 3,719,602, while the country’s death toll rose to 60,916. -- BAP, GMA News
