1 dead, 2 hurt while putting up an electric post in Ilocos Sur

A lineman died while his two companions were injured after they were electrocuted while putting up an electric post in Narvacan, Ilocos Sur.

GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan's Russel Simorio reported on “Saksi” that the victims were thrown away to the ground due to the impact.

“Noong maitapat na namin ang poste sa butas, doon nadikit sa live wire, nu’ng nakukuryente kami, namamanhid katawan ko at may maingay sa tainga ko,” Carlo Paa, one of the injured victims, said.

(We were putting up the electric post onto the hole but it touched a live wire. While we were electrocuted, my body went numb. There was also something noisy in my ears.)

GMA reached out to the lineman’s family and the workers’ company but both declined to comment.

The company has vowed to provide financial compensation to the victims. -- Sundy Locus/BAP, GMA News
