Two young siblings were killed and their grandmother wounded  in a heist that was pulled off on Monday by a former manager of the victims' farmland in  Cagayan province.

Based on a report by GMA Regional TV Balitang Amianan, Unang Balita said Thursday that the tragic incident involving a knife attack took place in the house of the victims in Sta. Teresita, Cagayan.

Police identified the fatalities as (not their real names) Marco, six years old, and Maria, five, who succumbed to multiple stab wounds.

Their grandmother, Evelyn Perez, 64, a retired school principal and now a businesswoman, is recuperating from her stab wounds in a hospital.

An initial police report shows that the suspect Gerry Genova, who used to manage Perez's farmland, broke into the victims' house on Monday.

Upon hearing strange noise in the kitchen area, Perez got out of the room to check. When she returned, the suspect was already there waiting, and immediately stabbed her several times.

The commotion awaken one of the children, drawing Genova's attention to the kids and prompting him to stab the two to their death.

The suspect then tied the wounded Perez before clearing away all the cash, valuables and jewelry in the room and then ran away, the police report said.

Later, the cops tracked down and arrested Genova, who is now facing multiple criminal charges. —LBG, GMA News
