8 killed in Nasugbu truck crash

At least 8 people, including an infant, were killed after a truck plowed into a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a motorcycle in Nasugbu, Batangas, a report on “24 Oras” said Monday.

Based on the investigation by authorities, the truck was heading towards Nasugbu around 5 a.m. but upon reaching Barangay Aga, the driver allegedly tried to overtake and the truck's brakes failed.

The truck then collided with some fruit vendors on the side of the road, before hitting the SUV and motorcycle on the other side of the road.

Due to the force of the collision, the truck overturned, and its load of sand fell on the victims.

The truck driver and his companion survived the incident.

The trucker was in police custody and will face charges.
