1 reported dead in Abucay, Bataan due to landslide —PDRRMO

One person was reported dead after a landslide in Abucay, Bataan, on Saturday, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) officer-in-charge Glen Diwa said Monday.

“Last Saturday po may landslide, may isang casualty po (Last Saturday there was a landslide, there was one casualty),” she told GMA News Online in a message.

Based on a report from the PDRRMO and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the fatality has been identified as 27-year-old Roselyn dela Cruz of Barangay Gabon.

In a radio interview, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Erwin Tulfo  said they already provided assistance to the family of the deceased victim.

"Yung sa Abucay po, very unfortunate. May namatay na isa po doon. Binigyan na po natin ng cash for burial assistance [One person died there. We already gave cash for burial assistance]," he said.

Other victims also received assistance from the DSWD to rebuild their homes, he added.

At least seven barangays in Abucay and Balanga City experienced flooding up to two feet deep, according to Diwa, although it has since subsided. —KBK, GMA News
